Hercules

This semester, in our class 1ºESO AB, we are reading Hercules, a great story about gods and Greek heroes.

Do you remember the plot?

Hercules is the favourite son of the god Zeus. He’s very strong and intelligent. One day, because of a terrible magic trick, Hercules kills his family, thinking they’re his enemies. Hercules is desperate and wants to be good again. To clean his soul, he has to be a servant to King Eurytheus for 12 years. The cruel king is envious of Hercules, because Hercules is strong and brave, and he gives Hercules dangerous missions. Hercules must survive, but how?

THE JOYS OF READING

READING CAN BE SO MUCH FUN!!
Do you like reading? I LOVE reading, I think it is an amazing experience!

There are many reasons why I love reading. These are only some of them:

- I love reading because you can discover and learn many things. When you read, you can expand your knowledge and culture.
(“You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them” Ray Bradbury)

- I also love reading because you can have fun and travel with your imagination. You can instantly be transported into another world. Today you could be in Lewis Carroll´s Wonderland chasing Alice and the famous rabbit, tomorrow in Hogwarts School with Harry Potter and his friends. There are no limits to the places reading can take you.
(“Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are” Mason Cooley)

- A good book is always good company!
(“We read to know we are not alone”, C.S. Lewis)

- At school, by reading regularly, you can improve your writing, and also your vocabulary and grammar. You can always expand your vocabulary and the ways to express your ideas in a simple and correct form. The important thing is to enjoy your reading - then you can have fun and improve your English at the same time.
(“A book is like a garden carried in the pocket” Chinese Proverb)

Let me know a bit about you and your reading habits:
Do you like reading?, What´s your favourite book?, Who is your favourite author?, Which type of books do you usually read? Poems, novels, plays, comics, non-fiction, sci-fi novels? Which is your favourite literary genre?, Which book are you reading now?, Any suggestion for my future readings?
